The role and impact of enhanced administrative support to social work teams: a rapid research review
- children and young people
- service transformation
Date: July 2015
This rapid research review has been prepared to inform the DfE-funded Innovation Programme in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight but it is of interest more broadly to all local authority children’s services departments working with vulnerable children and young people.
With reference to existing findings from research, government-commissioned reviews and best practice guidance, the review explores:
- The context for local authority use of ‘super-administrators’ to support the work of child in need social workers – including the exploration of the use of these workers within the ‘Hackney Model’
- The extent to which enhanced administrative support for individual social workers makes a difference – what is known and what is still unclear
- What are the key lines of enquiry with regard to the use of enhanced administrative support in relation to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight innovation.
