New for Wales in 2017: Housing and our ageing population, where next?
We will be running workshops in North and South Wales in June and September which are designed to bring together senior local authority commissioners with senior staff from housing providers to discuss and explore two key areas in housing and older people.
- Workshop 1: Planning for the future accommodation and care needs of older people in Wales This workshop considers how best to take a robust, whole system approach to planning for the future accommodation and care needs of our local older communities. It explores the relationship between demand for different services, and how we can understand and predict that demand.
- Workshop 2: Making best use of our current housing assets for our ageing population in Wales. This workshop explores how we ensure we understand the contribution made by different housing assets to the delivery of outcomes for our local population, and how we can work together to ensure we make the best use of them at a time of limited resources.
Skills development workshops
We run a series of one-day workshops offering concentrated, practical training and development in a range of areas:
- Innovations in children’s social care services - based on our recent innovation evaluation, this workshop for senior and middle managers will explore recent findings about the nature of presenting needs within child in need and child protection cohorts - including the prevalence of 'toxic trio' issues and the relevance for social care-led interventions
We also ran a workshop programme on Managing Demand in 2016.
