About the Institute of Public Care
As an outstanding University Institute, we work with our clients to improve the health and wellbeing of citizens and communities. Our professional experience and academic rigour makes us a trusted partner in public care
Our work tends to fall into three main areas:
Applied Research and Evaluation
We help our clients identify strengths and areas for development by undertaking reviews and evaluations as well as longer term applied research projects to improve the evidence-base from which public care services are delivered.
Consultancy
We help our clients solve problems, improve practice and innovate. We can help you to review, design, develop and implement policy, strategies, structures, services, pathways and operational guidance.
Training and Development
We help our clients improve the skills and knowledge of their staff or other stakeholders. Through coaching, training and development, your services can have more consistent impact.

Our Team
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We are committed to developing a diverse, equal and truly inclusive workplace and community. Celebrating difference is the right thing to do. It will also help us with our aim: to improve the health and wellbeing of citizens and communities. We developed the Get Experience in Applied Research (GEAR) programme to support early career researchers and post-graduate students at Oxford Brookes University who are from an ethnically diverse background. Find out more about equality, diversity and inclusion at Brookes on the University's webpage for staff and information for students.
Our commitment to achieving net zero
At Oxford Brookes, we recognise that urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change. We declared a Climate Emergency in 2021 and are committed to being carbon net zero by 2040. Find out more about our plans and how IPC can help you think through the implications of climate change and build resilience to climate risks.
Data protection and cyber security
Oxford Brookes University has achieved the globally recognised information security certification ISO/IEC 27001, as part of its commitment to protecting its information and that of its staff, students and partners. The Institute has UK accredited certification for the cyber security arrangements of our work (Cyber Essentials certificate number IASME-CEP-008538) and has completed the Data Security and Protection Toolkit to Standards Exceeded.
