Extra care housing workshop 4 February
IPC is one of the market leaders in providing advice and guidance to local authorities and others in this high growth sector. We have recently carried out a national market survey of the extra care housing market and tapping into this knowledge is essential for all commissioners and other stakeholders.
On 4th February 2021 we will be sharing this knowledge in our workshop, along with our guest presenter Shirley Hall, Head of Innovation and Wellbeing at the ExtraCare Charitable Trust, a major provider of extra care accommodation and support. This event is available free and with priority booking to IPC Academic Partnership Network members. Non-member places are available at £50 + VAT.
The extra care housing sector is growing in size and importance. There are over 80,000 units available in the UK, with more being added every year. Over 170,000 people live in private retirement units.
Covid-19 has accelerated the shift towards a more blended approach of supporting people who need accommodation with support. Residential care remains an important component of this type of care, but increasingly people are looking for a wider range of options, supported by new developments in technology.
Extra care housing combining purpose-built accommodation, community living, on-site support and the best of technology, provides a real alternative to residential care for many people. However, many local authority areas are still not making best possible use of this option.
This online workshop provides an opportunity to:
- Hear about the latest developments in extra care housing
- Find out about the current state of the extra care market
- Hear from a major provider of extra care housing
- Share thoughts, plans and ideas with other commissioners
