The is an interim report of the second year of our independent evaluation of Opening Closed Doors, a Barnardo’s programme in South East Wales to support children and families who have experienced domestic abuse. This interim report focuses on the experience of adapting the Programme so that it could continue to be delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A key feature of the programme is that it takes a holistic approach by offering a whole family intervention that includes: Integrated Women’s Support (IWS), the Safety, Trust and Respect (STAR) Programme for children and young people, and the Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme (DAPP).
Evaluators found many benefits as well as barriers to delivering the programme online and the report highlights some important considerations to keep in mind to adapt to the changing environment.
