Dr Amy Simpson has over 15 years’ experience conducting and managing applied research studies and evaluation projects in health and social care. She has worked with teams in local and national government, the NHS and voluntary sector in a variety of subject areas including patient and public involvement, coordination of care, genomic healthcare, psychosocial impact of illness and mental health. Amy has a PhD exploring the identities of parents of children with undiagnosed genetic conditions.

Amy is passionate about working collaboratively with people and bridging the gap between research and policy. She has worked in the voluntary sector for the past 8 years, conducting extensive research within multidisciplinary teams, and working with patients and families in the field of rare and genetic conditions to inform the design and implementation of key policies, including the government’s UK Rare Diseases Framework.
