Understanding the self-funding market in social care: a toolkit for commissioners

IPC developed a toolkit for the East Midlands region as part of the Developing Care Markets for Quality and Choice (DCMQC) programme.
The work for the East Midlands region helped Councils seeking to understand the future needs of self-funders. IPC developed the toolkit based on a literature review, background research and discussions with Commissioners within the region.
The toolkit was part of a package of support offered under the DCMQC programme, including a workshop on self-funders, materials and tools for developing market position statements, and bespoke support for individual local authorities.
DCMQC was a national programme funded by the Department of Health and supported by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services and a range of provider bodies. The programme was developed by IPC as part of the government's implementation of the White Paper, 'Caring for our future: reforming care and support'.
DCMQC offered a range of support to local authorities and regions in England designed to help them to develop and implement market position statements.
