Commissioning Course

Course information

Our popular commissioning course supports commissioners in health and social care organisations to implement the national agenda and develop good commissioning practice. It will enable you to understand the commissioning process and commission value-for-money services.

We are delivering this short course as either 8 half day sessions online or 4 full day face to face sessions. Either way you will get the same, good quality group learning experience from the same tutors at the same price of £850 per person. Download more information about the Commissioning Course.

The course has given me an excellent foundation of knowledge that will help me commission and shape services. The IPC tutors were excellent, and I found it very useful to draw on the experiences of colleagues on the course.

Louise Beaumont

Louise Beaumont, Commissioning Officer, Healthier Communities, Adults and Communities Directorate, Barnsley Council

Most of us don’t grow up and think ‘I want to become a commissioner’, but five years after university I found myself in the role asking myself is there more I need to know? The IPC Commissioning course answered my questions and helped build my confidence.

Liam Mawhinney

Liam Mawhinney, Children’s Business Change Commissioning Manager, Leicester City Council

I selected this course to broaden my knowledge about commissioning, procurement and contract management. The course was interesting, insightful and taught me great commissioning best practice.

Tracy Carter

Tracy Carter, Commissioning Officer, Cornwall Council

I wanted to reflect on my own commissioning practice within a ‘safe space’. The course enabled me to do this comfortably and the brilliant IPC tutors created an environment that stimulated meaningful discussion via practical exercises.

Charlotte Parkes

Charlotte Parkes, Senior Public Health Manager, Royal Borough of Greenwich

The skills and knowledge gained in commissioning and procurement training provided by IPC have enhanced my career. I have been able to confidently apply and secure a senior role in commissioning.

Oludare Oludipe

Oludare Oludipe, Project Manager, South London Commissioning Programme (SLCP)

I would highly recommend the IPC Commissioning Course to anyone! When I started the course I felt like a complete novice. Fast forward 2 years and I have so much more confidence in myself and my ability as a commissioning officer.

Tracey Inkster, Commissioning Officer, Commissioning Team, Central Bedfordshire Council

IPC Commissioning Alumni Conference Birmingham

Everyone had a brilliant day at IPC’s inaugural Commissioning Alumni Conference, hosted on Monday 28th November 2022 at Conference Aston in Birmingham.

The conference, which celebrated 20 years of the IPC Commissioning Course, was attended by 70 commissioning colleagues from across the country. We explored how the roles of commissioners have changed over the years, the current pressures and opportunities, and how commissioning may change in the next 20 years.

We would like to thank all the fantastic speakers that contributed to the success of this event.
