The aim of this course is to offer an overview of commissioning in public services, and support participants to consider their role within the commissioning process, and how they can contribute to good practice. Participants will come away from the two modules having worked through the principles of each stage of the IPC Commissioning Cycle, contributing to a number of reflective and scenario based exercises, designed so they can consider how to implement effective commissioning in their ongoing professional practice.
This training is delivered across 2 teaching modules, which can be delivered in person or as 4 half day online sessions.
“It helps to get an idea of how my role fits in the wider commissioning cycle”
“Literally has helped me to understand why I do some of the tasks I do!”
“I found the whole course really interesting and informative. I was particularly impressed with the Logic Model and its use to work backwards from outcomes”
“Completing the accreditation enabled me to reflect upon the work which I have been doing and analyse my practice in relation to the course. It has highlighted a number of “new to me” methodologies which I hope to make good use of in the future and it will be a useful reference point for all future commissioning activity which I undertake”.
“Doing the accreditation has cemented and enhanced my learning as it required me to apply it and reflect on the application and my practice. The course has helped to contextualise my work in wider practice, I think more widely about tasks and how they relate to the whole as a result of the course. I also gained insight into some useful models to use in my work”.
For those looking to gain formal recognition for their learning, the programme offers an optional accredited award from Oxford Brookes University, worth 10 CATS credits at Level 4. To achieve this, you’ll need to attend additional support sessions and complete a work-based assessment, with an extra fee of £300 per person. Earning this accredited award not only boosts your professional credentials but also significantly contributes to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD), giving you a competitive edge in your career.
