District Council Readiness for Local Government Reorganisation

First ‘Adapting Your Leadership’ programme

IPC is delighted to be working in partnership with The Staff College to deliver the first ‘Adapting Your Leadership’ programme for senior leaders within district councils in readiness for Local Government Reorganisation in the next few years.

This programme is designed specifically for colleagues in District Councils who are preparing to transition into senior leadership roles within unitary authorities.

The programme provides a comprehensive overview of children’s and adults’ services, alongside a broader understanding of system leadership and effective partnership working across complex organisations. Participants will explore the challenges and opportunities that come with operating at greater scale, including managing wider portfolios, larger budgets, and increased strategic responsibility.

Incorporating Action Learning throughout, the programme also creates dedicated space for reflection, enabling colleagues to consolidate their learning, consider their leadership development, and plan their next career move with confidence.

Content and cost

  • The content will be delivered in two 2-day residentials and two 1-day workshops and delivered face to face
  • The cost for the programme is £2795 (+ VAT)
  • The programme will be accredited for those who wish to take it up (additional fees will apply) 

Dates

  • Residential 1 – 18th and 19th June 2026
  • Workshop 1 – 14th July 2026
  • Workshop 2 – 23rd September 2026
  • Residential 2 – 18th and 19th November 2026
