IPC to undertake evaluation of Functional Family Therapy for younger children in Cornwall

Cornwall County Council commissioned us to undertake an independent evaluation of the Gweres Teyluyow (Helping Families) Service over the next two years. The service is piloting a Functional Family Therapy Child Welfare (FFT-CW) model to work with children aged 5-11 years who are known to have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) including neglect and /or abuse and their families, to prevent needs from escalating.

We recently completed a Department for Education funded evaluation of Cornwall’s innovative Making Integration Happen programme that has brought health and social care staff into a new integrated directorate called, Together for Children.

The new Gweres Teyluylow service enhances the support available to children and families through its intensive, therapeutic approach, helping parents and children overcome their difficulties, avoid family breakdown and children coming into care.
