Whether by evolution or even revolution, change is inevitable. In today’s digital world, social care is coming face to face with new and developing technology and the Government’s 10 year vision for the NHS and social care places a significant emphasis on this shift from analogue to digital.
A key element to these ambitions has been the establishment of the Digitising Social Care Programme by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), which has been working across the sector to advance and promote the use of digital technology, including the development of a digital skills framework for care staff.
IPC is supporting this shift. For example, we have been involved in detailed research and analysis on behalf of DHSC on understanding the digital skills needs of the social care workforce from care staff, managers, Social Workers to Occupational Therapists. We have supported the adoption of technology across local authorities on behalf of the LGA and ADASS and played a pivotal role in supporting the sector to use digital technology safely to minimise the risks of cyberattacks.
More recently we have helped design and test the self assessment tool for the digital skills framework hosted by the Digitising Social Care Programme for the social care workforce. In this context we worked closely with the sector to coproduce the tool which helps to pinpoint digital learning needs as well as to act as a marker of digital maturity.
