Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems (BUSS) for children

Overview

Join us to hear about the Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems (BUSS) brief intervention for children who have experienced disruption to their early development and bodily regulation – including care experienced children living in foster or residential care, kinship care or with adoptive parents.

In this session, we will hear from the experts and experts by experience about why this intervention is needed, what it involves and how local authorities, regional adoption agencies and other services can provide or help families to access it. We will also hear about 3 children’s individual journeys into and through BUSS and findings from a recent large scale research project about the positive effects of BUSS on children and families.

Audience

This webinar will be particularly relevant to service leaders, commissioners and practitioners working with care experienced children in local authorities and regional adoption agencies.

The webinar will be facilitated by IPC’s Assistant Director, Professor Katy Burch, in conversation with:

Sarah Lloyd – Consultant Occupational Therapist and BUSS developer
Dr Helen Close – lead researcher for the recent BUSS evaluation
Parents whose children have experienced BUSS and who have become parent mentors
Practitioners providing BUSS in their local areas.
