The Institute of Public Care (IPC) at Oxford Brookes University, partnered with Cardiff University and the University of East Anglia, have been commissioned by the National Adoption Strategy Team (NAST) to undertake an evaluation of existing and emerging multi-disciplinary approaches to adoption support.
The mixed methods evaluation, which will commence in May 2023 and finish in June 2025, aims to learn more about how these multi-disciplinary arrangements work, for whom, how, in what circumstances and why. It will also explore what are the likely costed benefits for organisations funding the arrangements and for the whole system of support for children and families’ health, education, and broader outcomes.
The evaluation will explore these benefits from the perspective of both:
- Children and families who have received or are receiving multi-disciplinary support through existing, mature models in both Adoption Counts and One Adoption West Yorkshire.
- Children and families receiving or about to receive multi-disciplinary support through up-coming models in the 7 newly funded Centres of Excellence in other regions in England.
